An ABC school is a public school offering instruction to students from kindergarten through third grade in a facility owned or leased by a business.

The Florida Legislature created Section 1013.721, (A Business-Community School Program) Florida Statutes, to promote business partnerships in education, reduce school and classroom overcrowding throughout the state, offset the high cost of constructing educational facilities, and use due diligence and sound business practices in using available educational space.

The first priority for admission of students to an ABC school shall be given to the children of the owners and employees of the host business.

The School District of Manatee County is seeking proposals from Manatee County businesses interested in partnering with the district in providing the facility, including the operating and upkeep expenses for a school in the workplace.
