Children´s Summit
The School District is well represented at Manatee County Government´s “Children´s Summit” held each August at the Manatee Civic Center. Over a dozen district booths display information about curriculum and many other special programs offered in our schools. Over 15,000 children and their families visit this one day event.
Crime Stopper´s Safe Halloween Night
Each October, the School District participates in the Crimestoppers Safe Kids Halloween Alternative event at the Municipal Auditorium.
Manatee County High School Theatre Festival
Each year, on a Saturday in February, our high schools perform one act from a play of their choice for the community. In 2008, a total of 8 drama departments were represented in this great event showcasing student talent. Major sponsors are the Tropicana Federal Credit Union and the Manatee Riverfront Theatre.
Desoto Heritage Festival Grand Parade
Thanks to Washington Mutual and other sponsors the School District is able to sponsor two floats in the Annual Desoto Heritage Festival Parade held in February. A hard-working committee works for months to plan decorations and activities for this big day when the district is able to represent all of our schools in front of 180,000 citizens of Manatee County. We are very proud that, in 2007, our float won “Best Original Float”!!!
