With 150 miles of pristine coastline, 27 miles of sublime beaches and an enticing overall annual temperature of 72.7 degrees, it's no wonder that Manatee County is a magnet for people looking for a great place to live and work.

Providing a quality education is an essential element of maintaining the extraordinary quality of life that has caused Manatee County to grow 17.1 percent between 1995 and 2005 - from 233,564 residents to 273,408.*

This incredible growth, which is expected to continue well into the future, presents a series of unique opportunities and interesting challenges to the Manatee County School District.

Led by a five-member School Board and Superintendent Tim McGonegal, the school district is Manatee County's largest employer with more than 5,300 hardworking and dedicated employees.

Together, with the help of thousands of individual volunteers and corporate business partners, the men and women of the Manatee County School District work daily to enhance the community we live in by nurturing and sustaining the dreams and aspirations of more than 42,000 students.
