October 13th, 2006 BRADENTON - By using his singing talents to provide a positive antidote to substance abuse, country music entertainer Daron Norwood hopes to make a difference in young people's lives when he performs at 10 Manatee County schools over the next week. Having shared the stage with country mega-stars such as Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Merle Haggard and Alabama, Norwood knows how to command an audience with his special blend of talent, energy and inspiration. Norwood's performances are sponsored by the Manatee County School Board and the Manatee County Substance Abuse Coalition and are a prelude to Red Ribbon Week which runs October 22-28. “He's an awesome performer and he really connects with the kids,” said Ruth Lyerly, a volunteer with the Manatee County Substance Abuse Coalition. “He even stays after the concert to talk to kids one-on-one.” The dates, times and locations of the concerts are:
