(BRADENTON, FL - August 23, 2007) Seizing the opportunity to help local children pursue their educational dreams confidently and creatively, the Gettel Foundation recently donated $25,000 to the Manatee County School District's Take Stock in Children program.

The Take Stock in Children program takes high-potential, low-income students and matches them with a mentor throughout middle and high school. Students who maintain good grades, exhibit positive behavior and remain drug and crime free, receive a four-year college.

“In the past we've done toy drives and other activities to help children, but when we learned of Take Stock in Children, we decided to move to the next level to help them obtain college scholarships,” said Jim Gettel, who heads the Gettel Foundation with his wife, Kelly.

Associated with the Gettel Automotive Group, which includes several successful auto dealerships in Manatee and Sarasota counties, the Gettel Foundation's mission is to aid local charities that benefit children. In the past, the Gettel Foundation has contributed funds to Hope Family Services, Healthy Start and other organizations.

“We are honored to receive the support from the Gettel Foundation for the children and families of Manatee County,” said Diana Dill, Program Administrator for Take Stock in Children in Manatee County. “The college scholarships are truly a gift that will last a lifetime.”

Jim and Kelly Gettel both said they are thrilled to Associated with the Take Stock in Children scholarship program.

“Every child deserves a chance,” Kelly Gettel said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to help children realize that their dreams are attainable.”
