BAYSHORE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS SET SIGHTS ON RECORD-BREAKING ROLLER COASTER
(Bradenton, FL - April 16, 2008) It´s been a wild ride for fifth-grade students at Bayshore Elementary School as they have worked hard to create a world record-breaking roller coaster made out of K´Nex, a flexible construction toy. The coaster, which has more than 40,000
pieces and fills up a good portion of the school´s auditorium, will be officially unveiled during the school´s Math and Science Family Fun Night, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008.
“We have made this a school-wide event by involving every student at our school in creating our roller coaster,” said Betsy Arrington, a fifth-grade teacher at Bayshore. “Nearly 800 kids have connected a part of the coaster.”
Arrington said school officials have been in contact with Ripley´s Believe It or Not and the Guinness World Records office in London to try and gain official recognition for the largest roller coaster made of K´Nex.
Bayshore Elementary is located at 6120 26th St. W, in Bradenton.
