EXPERT ON UNDERSTANDING POVERTY AND ITS IMPACT ON EDUCATION SET TO SPEAK TO DISTRICT EMPLOYEES
(Bradenton, FL. - February 11, 2008) Ruby Payne, Ph.D., a noted expert on poverty and its impact on learning, will address more than 300 school teachers, administrators and school-district employees during a seminar scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, 2008
from 8 a.m. to noon at the Manatee Civic Center. The title of Dr. Payne's seminar is the same as a book she authored: A Framework for Understanding Poverty.
A professional educator since 1972, Dr. Payne uses humor, engaging stories and an accessible speaking style to deliver a powerful message about poverty and the mindsets of economic classes. On Wednesday evening, Dr. Payne will deliver a related message in
an address open to the public from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Raymond Full Gospel Baptist Church, located at 2401 Fourth Avenue East in Palmetto.
