ISRAELI EDUCATORS SCHEDULED TO TOUR MANATEE DISTRICT SCHOOLS
(Bradenton, FL - January 14, 2008) Eight educators from Israel will tour Manatee District schools on Thursday, January 17, 2008, as part of an inter-cultural exchange sponsored by the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation and area philanthropist Gerry Daniel.
The Israeli delegation will include administrators and principals from the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo, who represent Tel Aviv's most-noted educational institutions. The delegation will be led by Dafna Lev, Director of Education, Culture and Sport Administration.
During their tour of Manatee County schools, the Israeli delegation is scheduled to visit four campuses including Manatee Technical Institute's East Campus, Lakewood Ranch High School, Braden River Elementary and Lee Middle School. While visiting the schools,
the Israeli educators will receive explanations and demonstrations of an array of educational programs and projects presented by district teachers, students and administrators. The delegation will end its tour with a lunch meeting with Superintendent
Dr. Roger Dearing and other district officials at the School Support Center in Bradenton.
The educational exchange program is part of the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation's Israel @ 60 celebration, which provides citizens across Sarasota and Manatee Counties a wide variety of exciting opportunities to celebrate the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.
Gerry Daniel is a Sarasota resident, a Federation supporter and a longtime community leader and philanthropist. Along with his late wife, Ruth, Mr. Daniel has supported Jewish educational opportunities in New York, Sarasota and Israel. The overall intention of this most
current exchange is to build a long-lasting bridge between the educational communities in Sarasota-Manatee and Tel Aviv.
