HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INVITED TO FREE SAT WORKSHOP
(Bradenton, FL - January 8, 2008) High school students in Manatee County are invited to attend a “Free College Entrance Exam Workshop” this Saturday, January 12, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the auditorium at Braden River High School. Topics addressed during the
workshop include an overview of the SAT I; test taking strategies for verbal sections; math skills, concepts and strategies; as well as a summary, discussion and evaluation.
The workshop will be conducted by John C. Swann, Jr., a consultant who has been employed in the Department of Research, Assessment and Accountability of Dayton Public Schools in Dayton, Ohio since 1991. Mr. Swann's workshops focus on new approaches to preparation
for standardized assessment tests and include hands-on-testing exercises and demonstrations of test-taking strategies.
“We're trying to encourage as many of our students as possible to take college entrance exams so they can further their education once they leave our classrooms,” said Lynette Edwards, Assistant Superintendent of Manatee District Schools. “This is all about moving our students forward.”
