NAMING PROCESS FOR NEW SCHOOL BEGINS
(Bradenton, FL - June 6, 2008) The School District of Manatee County is now accepting name nominations for the new Elementary School "E" which is going to be built in the central Bradenton corridor between 17th Avenue West and 13th Avenue West (east of 6th Street West and west of the Bradenton Housing Authority property).
Construction of Elementary "E" is scheduled to begin in August 2008. The projected opening date for students is August 2009. Elementary "E" will be the district's first school to be submitted to the United States Green Building Council for "Green Certification." The facility will incorporate state of the art energy efficient-systems, indoor air-quality management, low-emitting materials, water-use reduction fixtures and recycled materials among its many "Green" features.
Names for new Manatee District facilities are generally based on geographic areas, historic events or after a person who has made a significant contribution to the local school system.
Applications for name nominations will be accepted from interested citizens until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008. The applications are available at the district's Community Relations Department at the School Support Center, at 215 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton. The applications may be obtained via e-mail, or they can be mailed or faxed to interested parties.
All name nomination applications should be addressed: "In Care of Community Relations." Name applications can be dropped off at the School Support Center; faxed to (941)708-8680; e-mailed to stromp@manateeschools.net; or mailed to:
