YOUNG FILMMAKERS DEBUT TALENT AT FILM RUSH 2008
(Bradenton, FL - March 13, 2008) Stephen Spielberg. Sidney Pollack. Martin Scorsese. Every famous filmmaker got their initial break somewhere, and for some local aspiring student filmmakers, the first big break could come at Film Rush 2008.
The result of a unique collaboration involving Manatee County Schools, Manatee Educational Television, the South Florida Museum and the Film Club at Manatee Community College, Film Rush 2008 supports young filmmakers by providing a public forum to display their work and gives them an opportunity to interact with other talented students who share their interest in filmmaking.
A screening of winning films submitted by area students will be held Friday, March 21, 2008, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton. Admission to the screenings is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
Film submissions were solicited from Manatee County middle and high school students and were judged by select members of the Film Club at Manatee Community College, a representative of the South Florida Museum and the Arts Specialist for the Manatee County School District. Categories of films include Narrative, Documentary, Experimental, Animated, Original Music Video, and Public Service Announcement.
The South Florida Museum is located at 201 10th St. W., in Bradenton. For more information on Film Rush 2008, please contact Dr. Sherry Lawrence, Curriculum Specialist for Fine and Performing Arts and Gifted Education for the School District, at 751-6550, ext. 2107.
