MANATEE TOPS STATE AVERAGES IN FCAT RETAKE SCORES
(Bradenton, FL - May 15, 2008) Manatee District 12th graders retaking the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test topped state averages in both reading and math when it comes to scoring high enough to qualify for graduation. Students must pass the reading and math portions of the FCAT to graduate from high school.
On the High School FCAT Retake Reading Test, 234 students in the 12th grade were assessed in the Manatee District this year. Of the 234 students assessed, 19% earned a scale score of 300 or higher to meet the graduation requirement in reading. Statewide, 24,069 seniors took the FCAT Retake Reading Test and 16% earned a scale score of 300 or higher to meet the graduation requirement in reading.
On the High School FCAT Retake Math Test, 86 students in the 12th grade were assessed in the Manatee District this year. Of the 86 students, 37% earned a scale score of 300 or higher to meet the graduation requirement in math. Statewide, 9,971 seniors took the FCAT Retake Math Test and 32% earned a scale score of 300 or higher to meet the graduation requirement in math.
