DAUGHTERS SET TO SPEAK AT SCHOOL NAMED IN HONOR OF THEIR MOTHER

Johncyna McCrae and Deborah Thomas, the daughters of Annie Lucy Williams, will visit Williams Elementary on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 to talk about their mother's life, her career in education and her service to our community. The daughters' visit is part of the school's observance of Black History Month and will include sessions with students from each grade level. Williams is located at 3404 Fort Hamer Road in Parrish. COMMUNITY LEADERS WILL VISIT FREEDOM TO HONOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Circuit Court Judge Charles E. Williams, Palmetto Police Chief Garry Lowe and Assistant Schools Superintendent Lynette Edwards are among the list of prominent African Americans who will speak to Freedom Elementary School students at an assembly to honor Black History Month on Monday, February 25, 2008, at 8:45 a.m. Freedom Elementary is located at 9515 State Road 64 East. LEE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ORGANIZE EFFORT TO HELP HUMANE SOCIETY

Student Council members and science students at Lee Magnet Middle School have organized an effort to make a difference in our community by choosing to help the Humane Society of Manatee County. The students are collecting dog and cat food, pet toys, towels, blankets, animal carriers and other necessary items to give to the animals waiting to be adopted. ORANGE RIDGE-BULLOCK CELEBRATION SHOWS OFF STUDENTS' TALENTS

Students reciting poetry, singing and dancing are just some of the ways Orange Ridge-Bullock Elementary School students will celebrate Black History Month during an assembly scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 9 a.m. Orange Ridge-Bullock is located at 400 30th Avenue West, in Bradenton.
