COMMUNITY LEADERS TO VISIT FREEDOM IN HONOR OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Circuit Court Judge Charles E. Williams, Palmetto Police Chief Garry Lowe and Assistant Schools Superintendent Lynette Edwards are among the list of prominent African Americans who will speak to Freedom Elementary School students at an assembly to honor Black History Month on Monday, February 25, 2008, at 8:45 a.m. Freedom Elementary is located at 9515 State Road 64 East. STUDENT TALENT WILL SHINE AT BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

Students reciting poetry, singing and dancing are just some of the ways Orange Ridge-Bullock Elementary School students will celebrate Black History Month during an assembly scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 9 a.m. Orange Ridge-Bullock is located at 400 30th Avenue West, in Bradenton. WHAT'S BETTER THAN DANCING WITH THE STARS? DANCING WITH DAD

Fathers and daughters at Braden River Elementary School will get a chance to display their dancing skills when the school's Parent Teacher Organization hosts the annual Father/Daughter Sweetheart Social tomorrow (Friday, February 22) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Dads and daughters will enjoy refreshments and dancing to the music of a disc jockey. For more information, contact parent volunteer Kim Daunt at 751-7012, ext. 2000.

AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS TO DISCUSS THEIR WORK AT HAILE MIDDLE

Close to 20 local authors and illustrators will be on hand to discuss their work when the Haile Middle School Parent Teacher Organization hosts Authors and Illustrators Night on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the school's cafeteria. Students, staff and the community will be able to visit and speak to the authors and illustrators and purchase books signed by them in what's being billed as a living book fair.
