LEE MIDDLE SCHOOL READY TO CELEBRATE Pi DAY ON FRIDAY, MARCH 14TH

Teachers and students at Lee Magnet Middle School will celebrate Pi Day along with other schools across the nation on Friday, March 14, 2008. Pi, one of the world´s most storied and intriguing numbers, is a physical constant defined as the ratio of a circle´s circumference to its diameter. Some of the Pi Day activities at Lee will include Pi Comics, a Piece of Pi and a Pi Internet Scavenger Hunt. For more information, contact Lee Middle Principal Scot Boice at 727-6500.

GREAT FOOD AND FAMILY FUN HIGHLIGHT DUETTE ELEMENTARY FUNDRAISER

Fresh Fried Fish. Grits. Hushpuppies. Greens. Cornbread. Dessert. Coffe and Tea. That´s the menu that will be served when Duette Elementary holds its annual Fish Fry & Talent Show on Saturday, April 12, 2008. The food will be served from noon to 5 p.m. and the talent show will begin at 6 p.m. This year the talent show will feature a Hannah Montana Look-a-Like Contest. PARENT UNIVERSITY OFFERS FREE TIPS TO HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED IN SCHOOL

Parents and guardians can learn a wide variety of ways to help their children become better students by taking part in the Manatee School District´s Parent University on Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 8 a.m. to noon at Braden River High School. The Parent University is free and open to the public. This year´s Parent University will offer more than 50 workshops on a variety of topics ranging from Internet Use and Safety for the Home, to Understanding the FCAT, to Surviving Middle School. Parents, guardians and the general public are encouraged to attend so they can gather important and practical information that can help children succeed in school.
