Education Program

The School Board of Manatee County provides a quality curriculum designed to prepare our children for a successful future. Based on national standards and Florida's Sunshine State Standards, the curriculum establishes expectations for students in pre-kindergarten through grade twelve.

What a child should know includes content knowledge in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health, physical education, the arts and foreign language. What a child should be able to do includes: managing information, critical and creative thinking, problem solving, communicating effectively, working responsibly and cooperatively, managing resources, effectively leading, and being a multi-culturally sensitive citizen.

The Manatee County curriculum ensures equity and coordination across the school district. Educators use the curriculum standards as the foundation for classroom instruction and assessment. The continuous review and revision of curriculum by the community, district administrators, school administrators, and instructional staff provides our children with a curriculum that prepares them to meet the needs of a changing world.
