SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
The school psychologist works with students, school personnel and parents to improve the
students educational experience.
SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
The school social worker is trained to identify the strengths in a student's school,
home and community, to alleviate existing problems and to prevent future problems.
GUIDANCE PROGRAM
Services provided by the school counselor include orientation of new students; academic
and career advisement; individual, group and classroom programs to help students learn
about their interests and abilities; assistance in interventions which address behavioral,
health, social skills, and/or academic issues; interpretation of testing data; and consultation
with teachers, administration and community agencies. School counselors are available at all
school sites.
SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES
All Manatee County schools are provided health services through a joint effort of Manatee
County Health Department and School Board nurses and health aides.
EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION
Exceptional Student Education provides services for children with special needs from age
3 to 21. Programs available for students who meet specific criteria include: specific
learning disabilities (SLD), speech and language, gifted, hearing impaired, physically
impaired, visually impaired, occupational therapy, physical therapy, mentally handicapped,
autistic, hospital/homebound, and emotionally handicapped.
PRESCHOOL DIAGNOSTIC CENTER
The Preschool Diagnostic Center, located on the Lincoln Middle School campus, provides a range
of services for children birth through five years.
