This manual includes all current, effective Policies and Procedures of the Manatee County School Board. All District employees and students are bound by the provisions of this manual. Any employee violations of these policies or procedures will be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination.

For purposes of this manual, the term policy is used interchangeably with the term rule as that term is defined in the Florida Administrative Procedures Act. The policies have been developed pursuant to the requirements of the Administrative Procedures Act, and as such, they constitute the governing law of the District. These policies have been created by the School Board under its rulemaking authority vested in the Board through Florida statutes.

Where appropriate, policies are followed by procedures designed to assist in implementing the policy. The policies have been developed by staff and have been reviewed at length and approved by the Board and are reviewed for change on an ongoing basis.

To the extent that there are other documents in the District which assist in promoting a clearer understanding of these policies, those documents are listed as references at the end of each Summary of Procedures.
