The division of Operations oversees the departments of Human Resources, Risk Management, Safety & Security, Information Technology, Maintenance & Operations, Construction Services, Food Services, Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance. This office also oversees all union negotiations.

The current Deputy Superintendent Operations is Joseph Ranaldi.

Mr. Ranaldi previously served in similar capacities in three large Florida school districts during the past decade, including as Chief Operations Officer for the School District of Manatee County since 2021, home to approximately 53,000 students. As Chief Operations Officer he oversaw the Operations Division of the district including Facilities Planning, Construction Services, Facilities Services (Maintenance), Custodial Services, Transportation Services, and Food/Nutrition Services. Those departments are comprised of approximately 1,000 employees. Prior to coming to Manatee County, Mr. Ranaldi served as the Executive Director of Operations and Assistant Superintendent in Seminole County from 2014 to 2021. In Seminole County, Mr. Ranaldi oversaw the Operations Division of the district including the departments of Facilities Planning, Construction, Facilities Services (Maintenance), Custodial Services, and Transportation Services. From 2013-2014, Mr. Ranaldi was Director of Planning and Project Management for Brevard Public Schools, which had an enrollment of approximately 72,000 students. From 1997 to 2013, Mr. Ranaldi co-founded and was a principal of Starmer, Ranaldi Planning and Architecture in Oviedo, Florida, a firm focused on governmental facilities ranging from K-12/Higher Education projects to public safety/government administrative complexes.
