Welcome Gullett Families
-
Hello Gullett families. Welcome to another exciting school year. There are many things to be excited about here at Gullett Elementary. We continue to be the largest elementary school in Manatee County, starting the 24-25 school year with 1420 students. We would like to welcome the 300+ new students to our school and we hope you all are having a positive transition to our school.
Although our enrollment continues to be higher than other schools, we work hard to make sure each and every student is getting an engaging and challenging education. Our teachers will continue incorporating Morning Meetings in their daily routines where students will be engaged in discussion, greeting one another, and developing interpersonal skills to build positive momentum for each day. Our teachers will also be focusing on leadership by infusing "Resiliency Skills" into their daily lessons. Students will be focusing on Cooperation, Respect, Empathy, Honesty, and many more traits that will help our students to be good, caring Gators.
This year, Gullett will deal with some unique situations that we have never seen before. For the first time, Gullett has reached an enrollment number that has caused us to freeze all new enrollments for this school year. Any NEW enrollments for this year will be routed to Freedom Elementary, another A-rated school in our area. This will help ensure that we can focus on quality classroom instruction and maintain a safe learning environment. Another change that will occur is the change in school leadership. I will be moving to the new K8 campus sometime in late fall to help oversee the creation of the new campus and all that goes with it. Mrs. Gierhart and Mrs. Combs will remain at Gullett to continue to lead the school.
Our school would not be where we are today without the continued support of the parents and families. We encourage you to get involved in your child's education. We have a great PTO that works to support our teachers and students, we have a very involved SAC that helps oversee the school policies, and much more. Meetings are held monthly to provide updates and gather volunteers to help make our school events amazing and enjoyable for all families.
Thank you Gullett families for your continued support and encouragement!
