AVID College & Cultural Tour

  • BOOKING FOR THIS YEAR'S COLLEGE TOUR IS CLOSED. NEWS ABOUT THE 2024-2025 COLLEGE TOUR TO BE ANNOUNCED IN SEPTEMBER.

The AVID College and Cultural Tour is an annual multi-day trip where AVID elective students are able to visit multiple colleges and universities, as well as museums and cultural sites.

This year, Bayshore AVID elective students will attend three colleges: Alabama State University, Auburn University and Emory University. Visiting colleges introduces the students of the program to colleges and universities that offer numerous majors in fields of their interest.

While touring the campuses, students will also have the opportunity to visit the Rosa Parks Bus Stop, Freedom Rides Museum, National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the World of Coca-Cola, as well as the Edmund Pettis Bridge & the A.M.E. Church in Montgomery. Students will gain firsthand knowledge of U.S. History and the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s.

AVID is a college readiness program that is designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The formula is simple - raise expectations of students, and with the AVID support system in place, they will rise to the challenge. AVID is an essential strategy for closing the achievement gap and making the college dream accessible to all students.

The College and Cultural Tour this year will take place from March 17 - March 22. Students will depart from Bayshore at 9 a.m. on March 17th, and return on March 22nd at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $775, and this includes all admission fees, bus costs, hotel rooms, and meals ($9 for lunches, $13 for dinners).

Students may pay by cash or money order with Mr. Wilson, or via Revtrak.
