Driver Ed Class / Lab

This is a .50 credit class that is paired with an online class of choice. (See below) The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the highway transportation system and to strategies that will develop driving knowledge and skills related to today's and tomorrow’s motorized society. It will also provide an in-depth study of the scope and nature of car collisions and their prevention. The content should include, but not be limited to, the following: Vehicle control and traffic procedure, defensive driving strategies, pertinent laws and their application to driving, physical and mental factors of driving, legal and moral obligations, knowledge of motorcycle interactions, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on driving performance. The goal of the course is to produce safe and confident drivers. During the semester students are not in Driver Education, they will be placed in an online class.
Prerequisite: 9th graders must be 15 by December 31st. All students must have or be able to obtain their Learner’s Permit within the first three weeks of the semester.
