Mustangs continue reading after challenge month ends

Grace Sorensen- Mustangs Ahead

drapak and book(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- February was “Love of Reading” Month, and Mustangs are moving back into a routine without organized book discussions. Some, like junior Clio Drapak, are determined to continue what literature month starts.

Drapak, the main founder in a self-organized book club, stated, “We made it because we felt there was a shortage of opportunities outside of school to read and discuss books with each other.”

The club is all-girls and holds its meetings off school property to read and discuss novels with friends.

“Right now, we’re reading our first book in preparation for our first meeting,” added Drapak.

Senior Jordan Greer is particularly excited for it and said, “We’re all very excited to get to know each other and share our love for women’s literature!”

LRHS Media Specialist Audrey Dombroski advises the Lakewood Ranch Readers team.

“Being part of a book club makes reading more social. You meet new people and find out their perspectives afterwards. It’s low-key a friendly environment!” she said.

By continuing good reading habits on and off school property, Mustangs are encouraging the community to grow and support eager learners.

“To me, the importance of reading is keeping our brains focused and learning so much,” agreed Dombroski.
