LRHS boys finish second at North Port Invitational

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Mustang track and field athletes competed in a varsity meet at North Port High School against 24 other teams on March 28. The boys' team placed second overall.
Top boys scores -
- 4x800 Zachariah Kersey, Colton Prater, Derek Robinson, and Jonathan Leatt placed second
- 1600-meter Jonathan Leatt placed second.
- 3200-meter Derek Robinson placed second.
- Javelin-Liam St. John placed first.
Top girls scores -
- 4x800 Avery Stewart, Julia Mulligan, Addison Shear, and Savannah Adams placed first.
- 4x400 Briana Taylor, Sophia Malbran, Savannah Adams, and Avery Stewart placed third.
Sophomore distance runner Addison Shear said, “Today in the 4x8 we did really good. We went from third place to first place, and we kept our strength the entire time and pushed through to the very end and we got a PR by three seconds, so I am very proud of us.”

Freshman 1600 runner Amy Howard said, “I was happy to hang out with my friends today and watch other people win their races.”
The next track meet will be a varsity meet scheduled for April 3 at Charlotte High School.
