Thousands of dollars in books donated to Manatee County students

During a recent donation drive at Books-A-Million in Bradenton, customers generously donated books to the School District of Manatee County.

The four-week community book drive was organized by Store General Manager, Rebecca Moses; Assistant General Manager, Cloe Guertinditmilette; and facilitated by District Community Engagement Specialist, Deborah Perry-Gambino.

Customers selected and purchased age-appropriate titles for students, grades K-12.

For the 2022-2023 school year, Books-A-Million will donate 360 books valued at more than $4,300 to the School District of Manatee County. That's 100 more books than were donated in the previous school year.

This generous donation was accepted today by Superintendent Cynthia Saunders; Dr. Laurie Breslin, Executive Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning; and Lori Pick, District Media Specialist.

Books will be used in traditional public schools to enhance existing reading programs and to generate a love of reading.
