King Middle School artist to have work featured in Florida Capitol

A young artist from King Middle School will soon have her work on display in the Florida State Capitol.

Mayle Sanchez-Leon, an 8th grade student, is the winner of the School District of Manatee County’s Art in the Capitol contest.

The announcement was made this week by Jeramiah Bowman, Curriculum Specialist for the Visual & Performing Arts.

Mayle was surprised at school, alongside her art teacher, Angie Prindle, and Principal Michael Mullen.

Her artwork was selected out of 60 submissions from middle schools across Manatee County.

One winner from each county in the state will hang on the Capitol’s second-floor rotunda in Tallahassee.

Congratulations, Mayle!
