Robotics teams gearing up for District VEX Tournament

Samoset Elementary recently held an inaugural VEX tournament, the first event of it's kind hosted by a Manatee County school. 

   

VEX is a robotics program for young scientists and engineers, encouraging creativity, teamwork, leadership and problem solving. 

Five elementary schools participated, including McNeal, Moody, Samoset, Tara and Willis.

Congratulations to the participants and the teams who earned awards:

Excellence Award - Willis Elementary

Teamwork Champion - Willis Elementary

Teamwork 2nd place - Willis Elementary and Samoset Elementary

Teamwork 3rd place - Samoset Elementary and McNeal Elementary

Robot Skills Champion - Willis Elementary

Design Award - Willis Elementary

Judges Award - Willis Elementary

This experience, and similar events taking place at other Manatee County schools, are preparing students for the District VEX Robotic competition on February 14th at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
