Artwork by two Parrish Community High School students is promoting water conservation throughout our community.
Representatives from Manatee County Government's Water Conservation Outreach team visited Parrish Community High School on Friday, April 19, 2024, to deliver the good news.
Both won a poster contest in 2023, and their art was chosen to adorn a county vehicle.
Chloe R., who has already graduated, was joined by her parents for the unveiling of a van featuring her design, "Use Drought Resistant Plants."
"Landscape art, very fun for me to draw," said Chloe, "I wanted to incorporate my skills into something."
Her colorful work features Catmint, Lantana, and Moss Rose plants, all of which require little to no watering once the root system is established.
The other side of the van is wrapped with art by Mia G. titled, "Every Drop Counts".
It shows a drop of water coming from a faucet that opens up into the ocean and home to a blue whale.
"It's really cool to know that other people can see the artwork that I made and maybe feel impacted by it in some way," said Mia G.
She was joined by her teacher and peers, who congratulated both young artists on their work.
