Retired engineer volunteers at Tara Elementary School for 20 years and counting

Raymond Turner, a retired engineer from California, has been volunteering at Tara Elementary School for nearly 20 years. While others might spend their retirement on the golf course or tennis courts, he chooses to add up his valuable time in the classroom as a math tutor.

He believes that the key to staying young is helping students achieve success. As one of his fifth-grade mentees put it, “The whole world should have a ‘Mr. Ray’.”
