Robotics Excellence: Manatee County Teams Advance to VEX Worlds
Last weekend, Manatee County Schools sent a total of 27 teams to the VEX IQ State Championship competition in Clermont, Florida.
These teams earned their way to this event through a season of hard work and prior competitions.
Students brought their robots, which they had designed, built, and programmed to play this year’s game, Rapid Relay.
On Saturday, 23 elementary school teams from Manatee County competed, with four middle school teams in competition on Sunday at East Ridge Middle School.
There were a total of 55 elementary teams and 68 middle school teams from the North/Central Florida region.

Here are the awards and recognition earned by Manatee County schools:
- Elementary School:
- Manatee County filled nine out of 20 spots in the elementary finals matches.
- Team 331Y - Yodeling Yaks from Willis Elementary won the Inspire Award.
- Team 34202A - Blue Lightning from McNeal Elementary won the Think Award.
- Team 34202A from McNeal will attend VEX Worlds.
- Middle School:
- Three out of four Manatee County middle school teams made it to finals at the middle school event.
- Team 10635B - The Mechanical Bulls: Paradigm from Dr. Mona Jain Middle won Teamwork 2nd Place, Skills Champion, and the Think Award.
- Team 10635B from Dr. Mona Jain Middle and Team 2502C from Haile Middle School will attend VEX Worlds.
Three teams from Manatee County will be going to VEX World Championships in Dallas, Texas on May 12 – 14th.
Manatee County Schools’ robotics programs continue to show perseverance, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm.
We are so proud of how far all of these teams have come this year, and we can’t wait to see what our schools will do in Dallas!
