Heart Heroes: Tara Elementary School students excel in the AHA's Kids Heart Challenge
Tara Elementary has heart! Students raised an impressive $11,015 for the American Heart Association's "Kids Heart Challenge" campaign.
P.E. Coach Linda Haluska led the effort, surpassing last year’s total by nearly $1,600.
Throughout the campaign, she encouraged students and families to learn life-saving skills such as hands-only CPR and recognizing the signs of a stroke.
“It was an amazing effort,” said Principal Laura Campbell, “and we rewarded our kids for their generosity”.
The reward came when students had the chance to slime Principal Campbell, Assistant Principal Kali Anges, and Coach Haluska.
Many students also earned small rewards from the American Heart Association.
In total, 55 students completed Finn’s mission, which includes online learning and fundraising opportunities to support heart health.
Additionally, 197 Tara students registered for the Kids Heart Challenge, and 83 families learned hands-only CPR.
Way to go, Knights! We’re proud of you for being Heart Heroes.
