PCHS DECA Heads to States

Gabrielle Redinger – PCHS Bulletin

The PCHS DECA student-organization started their DECA competition journey in early November 2023 with district event testing, followed by students who opted to create presentations, who then presented at Armwood High School on November 28. Those who make it past districts then compete for states in Orlando in February 2024.

Sierra Wilson, a sophomore at PCHS, competed at Armwood, winning 2nd place for the Personal Selling Event in the district. “I prepared my slides a month before the competition and started rehearsing it with friends and family until the day of the competition,” said Wilson.

Out of the 98 students in the DECA club, only 15 made it to states: Morgan Fellows, Natalie Fellows, William Porter, Mason Lind, Aiden Patterson, Braelyn Fletcher, Avery Scribner, Bryce Shortridge, Kaitlyn Nimmo, Zachary Argyris, Bianca Grindo, Sierra Wilson, Madi Malanowicz, Gabrielle Redinger, and Ella Vandermolen.

In Orlando, they will present or participate in role-play of their events, competing against over 100 districts of Florida high schools; their goal is to make it past states and onto nationals in Anaheim, California.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity since I wasn’t able to go to states last year. I'm excited to go to Orlando with the other DECA members and share this experience with them,” said Wilson.
