Bulls Track: Almost Across the Finish Line

Trevor Carrell - PCHS Bulletin

As the Parrish Bulls head into their regional meet on May 8, it can be said they had a phenomenal season on the track, despite problems off the track. At the FHSAA 3A District 9 Finals, the Bulls qualified 36 athletes across 23 events.

As the regular season ended, 15 school records had been broken and many shattered. One of these includes Rylie Jackson’s (junior) triple jump of 11.36m. Jackson expressed, “I feel very lucky that I was able to set this record, and it makes me excited for next season!”

Paired with Rylie Jackson, Parker Vitoritt, a senior, attended the Pepsi Florida Relays, where they displayed their abilities statewide on the track. To attend the meet, athletes needed to be in the top 32 in the state. At the meet, Jackson jumped for 17th place and Vitoritt ran for 23rd place.

Notable rankings for the Bulls in 3A include:

At the FHSAA 3A District 9 meet, the girls' team scored 2nd place overall with 147.50 points. The boys' team scored 3rd place overall with 108 points.

A week before the District 9 meet, Josh Kosko, sprinting and jumps coach, stepped down from his coaching role for personal reasons. In response to the decision, Jamari Morris was placed as sprinting coach. He states, "Taking over as the sprinting coach after Josh's departure feels like stepping into big shoes to fill. There's a mix of excitement and pressure, knowing I have to maintain the team's momentum and morale while also bringing my own style to the role. It's a chance to make an impact and help the athletes reach their full potential."

And Coach Morris did just that, sending 15 sprinters to the regional meet across 12 events. These athletes include: Alana Price, Madyson Greeman, Ryann Panico, Vanessa Marasco, Alijah Giustino, Mia Mainella, Rylie Jackson, Madison Hay, Parker Vitroitt, Javin Moss, Dylan Sabol, Torance Brady, Evan Joseph, and Cayden Arlotta.
