Parrish Under Construction

PCHS - Paige Harlow

The city of Parrish continues to expand with new neighborhoods and families who need schools to send their children to. As a result, Parrish Community High School initiated the construction of Building 8, which has been underway since last year.

At the beginning of the school's construction, Building 8 had always been a part of the plan. In an interview with Assistant Principal Paul Champagne, he stated, “Right about 2019 when the school opened, the plan has always been when they built this school that there would be an additional building at a later date.”

With Parrish’s ongoing growth, the high school must be ready to accommodate an expanding student body. Champagne commented on this, “They’re building a lot of houses out here. Everywhere you go, it seems like every day there’s a new sign up and a new neighborhood being built.”

Currently, the high school is at capacity. Every classroom is in use, with many using folding tables and chairs to make up for a lack of desks. Some teachers are “floaters” and travel from room to room, sharing space with other teachers during their planning periods. The new building will add 16 new classrooms, providing much needed relief.

By the end of this year, the community should see the completed building added to campus. The hope is that the student growth will have great effects on the school’s spirit and activities and allow students and faculty to have an amazing year of progress and positivity!
