Photography continues their annual water balloon photoshoot.

PCHS Bulletin – Casey Hurley

Parrish Community High School’s Photography class is known for the pictures they take around our campus, and the club they use to help keep that reputation up. These photos are regularly posted on their Instagram page and in the hallway outside room 5-125.

On August 23, the second-year classes used the knowledge they learned last year to keep the “Water Balloon Photo Shoot” tradition alive and well. Students took turns having a water balloon dropped on their head while someone else took pictures. This activity is a fun way for students to engage with shutter speed and capture the moment the water explodes.

Photography teacher Kelly Schweers invited others to come watch or “cool down” by participating with her classes.

Senior Jada Ortiz said, “Photography 2 is a great start to the day. It is a very relaxed class, and we get to improve more on what we did last year.”

Overall, students seem to enjoy the class and enjoy expanding their knowledge of photography. This is seen by the number of students enrolled in the classes. The water balloon images are a yearly tradition at Parrish. The students take much pride in their photos and learning new skills.

Photography is one of the many electives at PCHS, even including an after-school club. Students that want to become more involved should consider the photography club if they enjoy learning how to better work with a camera and take high-quality photos. The club typically meets 2–3 times a month in Schweer’s room, 5-125.
