A look inside HOSA at PCHS

PCHS Bulletin: Lexi Brielmann

HOSA stands for Future Health Professionals and is a student-led organization that can be found in schools around the world. This organization has the goal of helping students who are interested in the medical field.

In the club, students can learn about health and medicine and compete in a variety of competitive events. These events include medical related competitions but also math, reading, and speaking contests.

HOSA president Emma Harlow says, “You don’t have to have good medical knowledge; you can compete in leadership events.”

HOSA meets every other week on Monday or Thursday and is always looking to gain new members. HOSA can provide students with experience and skills they can use later in life.

“You gain people skills because you have to talk to people and judges at competitions, it really takes you out of your comfort zone”, Harlow said.

HOSA provides goal-setting experience, and the competitions look good on college applications. This club has a lot to offer to the students at Parrish. Students interested in joining should speak to advisor April Thorton in Room 5-201.
