Dr. Mona Jain Middle School faculty and staff wore red, white, and blue on Friday to celebrate two special colleagues.

During a surprise recognition, Maleda Dapi (teacher's aide) and Eneried Cintron (custodian) were congratulated for completing the 10-step naturalization process to become U.S. citizens.

Both have lived in this country for 20+ years.

"It's the only place to be," said Maleda Dapi, wiping away tears while referring to America.

She began the 10-step naturalization process nearly six years ago, but the pandemic delayed it.

Eneried Cintron said she's grateful for the everlasting support from their school community.

Her fellow custodial team, who appeared more like family, showered her with love and lots of photos to mark this memorable day.

Congratulations!
