Manatee County students continue to show their knowledge of innovative skills on the national stage. Teams from seven middle schools and two high schools earned Top Ten awards in 38 categories during the 2023 National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference in categories ranging from engineering design to cybersecurity to website design.

More than 7,000 students and advisors from across the nation gathered in Louisville, Kentucky, from June 28^th and July 2^nd. Middle and high school students competed in more than 70 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) events. The conference also provided students with opportunities for leadership development and career exposure in STEM fields.

Here are some of the highlights from the awards earned by Manatee County students:

Seven FIRST PLACE finishes, including: Biotechnology Design (Braden River High); Dragster Design (Braden River High – student, Austin Bankuty); Engineering Design (Southeast High); Problem Solving (King Middle); Promotional Design (Braden River High – student, Joyce Chen is the back-to-back national champion); Technical Design (Palm View K-8); and Website Design (Nolan Middle).

54 Top Ten awards: Braden River High (17); Braden River Middle (2); Buffalo Creek Middle (1); Dr. Mona Jain Middle (6); Haile Middle (6); King Middle (2); Nolan Middle (5); Palm View K-8 (6); and Southeast High (9).
