School District employees “Ride the Wellness Wave” for good health

An employee health and wellness fair was held for School District of Manatee County employees on Tuesday, July 25th, at Manatee Technical College – East Campus. The first 200 through the door received a "swag bag" with Well You goodies.

A sea of staff members including teachers, school psychologists, deans and maintenance workers, were seen speaking with company representatives about improving their physical, emotional and financial health.

There were tables topped with brochures, free samples and giveaways, in addition to raffle prizes eligible for those who attended.

The sponsors included: 3D Mobile Mammography, Advanced Chiropractic & Physiotherapy, All Dried Up, AQUA Dermatology, BENCOR, Department of Health – Manatee County, Equitable Advisors, Fifth Third Bank, fitlife foods, Harbor Chiropractic, IM Mindful, MCR Health, Meritain Health, MetLife, Norton LifeLock, Nutty Girl, Regenexx, Resilient Retreat, Securian Financial, Smoothie King, Suncoast Credit Union, The Healing Hippie, Tidewell Blue Butterfly, TURBOFIT, ValuTeachers, Ventegra, VSP vision care, Wex, Women’s Resource Center.

DJ Big Dawg worked the turntables outside while attendees laid out their mats for a yoga session. Nearby, a team of fitness trainers were ready to lead a pulse-pumping workout.

The Big Red Bus was on-site for anyone willing to donate blood. There were also three MCR Health mobile offices offering free screenings for health, dentistry and vision.

Outside, the heat was on – but local businesses were shaded by canopies and selling their refreshing treats. Thanks to Home Coffee Brand, Siesta Pops, and Surfing Coconut for also attending.

A special thanks to the entire Benefits team for hosting a terrific event, including Lisa McClure, Health and Well-Being Coordinator.
