Congratulations to Prine Elementary School's GOTR (Girls on the Run) Team for completing their first official 5K!
They joined more than 500 girls for the Greater Tampa Bay GOTR Celebration in St. Petersburg last Saturday, December 3rd.
Coaches Michele Wagstaff and Brigette Carlock, both fourth grade teachers, started Manatee County's first GOTR team this year.
The program inspires girls of all abilities, grades 3-5, to recognize their individual strengths, build confidence and create positive connections in a team setting.
A middle school program called Heart & Sole is available for girls, grades 6-8. There are currently no Heart & Sole teams in Manatee County.
Coach Wagstaff says the outcome of Prine's GOTR after-school club has been tremendous.
Prine Elementary is excited to expand and allow more participants in the spring of 2023.
Other Manatee County schools have already expressed interested in joining the GOTR movement, too.
