It’s the end of the first full week of school and there’s a lot to celebrate.

Principal Debra Riley smiles as she’s walking down the encouraging hallways of Miller Elementary School. “It’s been a great year, so far.”

Administrators and staff have a game plan for 2023-24 so their students will have a bright future.

Bulletin boards are covered with bright letters and sports-themed decorations, promoting team work and achievement.

On Friday, the first school-wide assembly was held. Staff members tested their new wireless microphones while students patiently waited to be called down.

After the announcement, lines of students made their way into the cafeteria while music played. Fifth graders first, followed by their younger schoolmates.

Wide-eyed kindergarten students looked around in amazement. A new experience for the newest members of the “Storm” family.

A special guest popped out from behind the curtain on stage. It was Marty, the mascot for the Bradenton Marauders.

He helped staff introduce “Stars of the Storm”, the yearly student recognition program encouraging success.

Expectations were showcased on large stars lining the stage, including “effort” and “responsibility”.

After a few teacher skits, Principal Riley and her team sprinkled green paper rectangles into the hands of students.

The “Miller money” is a currency incentive for those following expectations. Students can cash them in for rewards.

Go, TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)!
