Nolan Middle School students came together on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, to show their support for a national movement called, “Flags Across the Country”.
The classes of Mrs. Gilbert, who teaches agriscience/FFA, and Ms. Rahn, who teaches medical science/HOSA, stood together on Lorraine Road in Lakewood Ranch, near the school.
Students wore red, white and blue, as they waved flags, listened to patriotic music and received many waves and honks from drivers going past.
Flags Across the Country is a call to action to remind all Americans of the pride in their country, the unity and patriotism, which were expressed on the days following the attacks on September 11, 2001.
In addition to waving the flags, the middle school students learned about flag etiquette.
“It was exciting to see this generation being taught, ‘We Will Never Forget’,” said Carolyn Gilbert. “Many thanks to our veterans, on staff and throughout the community, state and country!”
The "Flags Across the Country" effort was started by Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to remember the fallen, honor those who served and teach the next generation the value of freedom.
Special thanks to Nolan Middle School FFA for providing photos and sharing #ManateeSchoolsGoodNews!
