Principal Laura Campbell puckered up and kept a big promise to her students at Tara Elementary School.
She told them if they read more than 1,000 books within two weeks – and passed a comprehension quiz for each book – she and her staff would kiss a pot belly pig.
Their total number of books is 1,484 and counting…
This week, two special guests came to Manatee County so that Tara Elementary students could make a pledge to “pig out on reading” with Farmer Minor and Daisy.
The duo calls Bristol, Connecticut “home,” but they tour the U.S. and encourage young people to develop a love for reading.
Daisy laid comfortably on a Peppa Pig blanket in a stroller labeled “I ❤ Libraries”.
Farmer Minor read to the students before Principal Campbell and staff members gave Daisy a big smooch.
Students also got the chance to pet the “most famous pig in the whole world”.
Daisy is “some pig”. Her favorite book is Charlotte’s Web and about every book that includes a pig.
