Each year the International Day of Peace, otherwise known as World Peace Day, is observed around the world on September 21st.
Several Manatee County schools celebrate each year.
McNeal Elementary in Lakewood Ranch dedicated a new "peace pole" this year, in honor of former Principal Cheryl McGrew.
