Braden River debate team

After a long and grueling day at the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative State Championship in Orlando, a debate team from Braden River Middle School delivered success!

Students began their day at 8 a.m. on April 1st and didn’t finish until 9 p.m.

Several made it to the fourth and fifth rounds, but 8th grade student, Kenadee B., made it to the eighth round and earned third place in Florida for her speech on electric cars and their effect on the environment.

More than 50 students competed in the final round of the Original Oratory category.

“Congratulations to (teacher) Tasheta Riley and her team,” said Principal Kimberlain Zenon. “What an awesome accomplishment for the first time ever competing at that level!”
