A new name is proudly displayed on the school district’s administrative building on Manatee Avenue West near downtown Bradenton. The building was recently dedicated as the Walter E. Miller School Support Center. The grassroots group, “Friends of Walter E. Miller,” held a celebration on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Mr. Miller took part in the design and construction of every Manatee County school from 1979 to 2010. He served as assistant superintendent and school board member. Mr. Miller also made his mark on the community by writing the grant request that led to funding and development of GT Bray Park in West Bradenton and Blackstone Park in Palmetto.
Walter E. Miller passed away in 2019. He was 83 years old.
