A fifth grade class at McNeal Elementary School in Lakewood Ranch is on a learning adventure together. They've adopted Limeki, an orphaned elephant in Kenya, through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Students will learn about elephants in Africa and the efforts to save them.
"I'm so excited to see their active engagement in learning," explains teacher Lora Sevarino. "Their beautiful hearts are soaring with the knowledge that a student in Manatee County can make an impact in a whole other part of the world."
Mrs. Sevarino's class will take part in various projects this year to make an impact by land, air and sea. Stay tuned. This rewarding lesson will be one to follow!
