Teachers Kelly Warne and Thao Le recently represented Oneco Elementary School during the Centerstone Life;Story 5K at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. The duo believes a healthy lifestyle should include mental health awareness. It's the 10th year that representatives from the school have joined the event in memory of a loved one. A trophy case at Oneco proudly shows off this year's trophy next to past years' trophies for "Most Participants in the Elementary School Division".
Team Oneco plans to participate in two more 5K events this year. Families will be invited to join the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 16th which provides funds to the American Cancer Society; and the "Out of the Darkness" Walk on October 24th with donations going to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
