After weeks of research and design, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies students at Manatee High School are reaching new heights. The sophomores, juniors and seniors launched softballs from their homemade Trebuchets, a type of catapult using a long arm to throw a projectile. They were aiming at a target 200 feet away.
The project requires knowledge in engineering, design, use of various materials and critical thinking, according to teacher Christopher Peters. The teams are acquiring valuable skills toward their future careers. It's important for the Hurricanes to learn how to research using digital resources, as well as identify and solve problems under pressure.
