Santa with a student

Students and staff from Daughtrey Elementary School were whisked away to a Winter Wonderland on Thursday. School counselors and paraprofessionals transformed the media center into a holiday dream. There was snow, glittering lights, holiday music, gifts, and a visit to see Santa.

After greeting Mr. Claus, the reindeer (assistant principals) delivered students from the train station to teddy bear and toy workshops, where they got to choose their favorite of each.

The teddy bears were donated by Petland, and the toys came from a multitude of donors, including school employees, Toys for Tots, Pastor Jerry Parrish and PAL, and St. George’s Episcopal Church.

Children carried their canvas bags filled with goodies, a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Crab seafood restaurant, back to class.

In the cafeteria, the stage is lined with brand-new bikes. A tradition, according to Principal Melissa McCullough, is to hold a raffle at the end of the school day.

Two students from every grade level will be receiving a brand-new bicycle for Christmas.

What an amazing experience to close out the last day of school for 2023
